UON HUMAN PATHOLOGY STAFF ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN KACP CONFERENCE

Annual Kenya Association of clinical pathologists (KACP) conference was held at Southern Palms, Diani, Mombasa on 22- 24 Oct 2015. The theme of the conference was “Pathology as the basis for Quality healthcare” !!.

Several staff members and postgraduates students from department of Human pathology attended and actively participated in the conference. There were several international speakers including Prof Rajeev Erasmus, Prof Pillai and Prof Annie Zemlin from South Africa. All presenters gave informative talks.

Faculty members who presented in the conference,

  • Prof Githanga: Prevalence of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia in 6-59 months old children with pneumonia at Kenyatta National Hospital: A comparison between two diagnostic parameters
  • Prof Muchiri:  Cervical cancer screening and prevention
  • Dr Deepa Patel: case report - childhood gastric adenocarcinoma-A diagnostic dilemma
  • Prof Rogena: (Industry sponsored workshop) - HER2 Diagnosis of Breast Cancer: Utility of HER2 receptor marker in diagnosis and follow up of breast cancer at KNH
  • Poster presentations: Prof Githangs and Dr Patel

New KACP office bearers were elected. We congratulate you and expect newer and better outcomes.
