The College of Health Sciences (CHS) in partnership with the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service and the Blood-Link Foundation recently held a very successful blood donation drive at the Kenyatta National Hospital Campus. Over 150 pints of blood were collected from students and other donors during the event which took place on 9th and 10th May 2013.
Blood shortage is a perennial challenge not only in Kenya but in most sub-Saharan countries. Shortage of blood for transfusion leads to loss of life, delayed surgery, delayed chemotherapy in patients afflicted by cancer, and prolonged hospitalization. CHS will continue to supports regular blood donation exercises to help save lives and to assist in patient management.
