The Department of Pathology was started through international collaboration with The Royal Infirmary Glasgow Medical School, UK. It separated from Microbiology and since then the department has trained over 130 Postgraduates.
it was a great pleasure to celebrate some of the department retirees since the 1970s. The retirees appreciation party was first of its kind and had 10 retirees namely; Prof Alfred Kungu, Prof David Gatei (represented by his son), Prof Orinda, Prof Grace Kitonyi, Prof Christine Kigondu, Dr George Wandolo, Dr Fatuma Abdalla, Dr Jackson Ireri, Mr John Kairu and Ms. Juliet Wanjiru.
The celebration we’re held at the Public Service Club on 8th March 2024 graced by the Faculty of Health Science Dean, Prof George Osanjo who thanked the Department Chairman for having the event and appreciating the retirees for their services. Also gracing the event was Dr Noella Orata from Kenya Association of Clinical Pathologist (KACP) who gave the retirees a lifetime membership to the association.
Joining the occasion were partners and sponsors of the event including Micropath, KNH, Sciencescope and Kenya Haemophilia Association represented by Dr Peter Kibet. Not forgetting Staff and postgraduate students who were happy to celebrate their former colleagues and lecturers and gifted them. Happy retirement to all retirees!
