Human Pathology is the foundation of medical science and practice. Without pathology, the practice of medicine would be reduced to myths and folklore. Pathology is therefore, an integral part of modern medicine.  Its is the branch of medicine dealing with the essential nature of disease concerned with in-depth analysis of the disease itself – the causes and mechanisms of disease, and the effects of the disease upon the various organs and systems of the body. Clinical medicine cannot be practiced without an understanding of pathology and likewise pathology is meaningless if it is bereft of clinical implication. The discipline of Pathology is arguably subdivided into Histopathology, Cytopathology, Forensic Pathology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Microbiology, Chemical Pathology, Immunology, Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics and Toxicology.
