Dr Richard Byers, Haematopathologist from the University of Manchester paid a courtesy visit to the Department of Pathology staff and registrars on Thursday, 18th May 2023, at 2pm. The visit included discussion on areas of collaboration, among other things.

Partnership with Wondfo Biotech Company Limited

The partnership between the department and the Wondfo biotech company limited was finalized on Thursday, 27th April 2023 by the signing of the collaboration agreement by the DVC Academic Affairs, Prof. Julius Ogeng’o and Mr. Bear Xiong of Wondfo Biotech Company limited.


The Wondfo specializes in creating biotech machines and providing training of the machines which deal with human pathology, forensic expertise and other fields.

Department staff and students pay last respect to the late Prof George Magoha

On Wednesday, 8th February 2023, members of staff and students paid their last respects to the late Prof George Magoha, who was one of the former Vice Chancellor and member of staff in the faculty. 

The procession took a few minutes in the faculty as they headed to the main campus. Funeral to be held on Saturday, 11th February 2023 in Umiru village, Gem Sub county in Siaya County. May his soul rest in internal peace.

Dr Maturi speaks at the Blood Transfusion Symposium Series

On Friday, 24th February 2023, Dr. Peter Maturi was among the speakers on the ongoing online Blood Transfusion Symposium Series titled Scope, importance of Haemovigilance, impact/benefits of Haemovigilance, reporting tools, adverse events reporting, facility transfusion committees. 

The webinar was an introduction to Haemovigilance in reengineering services for universal health coverage. 

MITS Training by Dr Walong

The Department of Human Pathology was privileged to host another set of training from 23rd-27th January 2023 on Minimally Invasive Tissue Sampling (MITS), an autopsy technique meant to equip Pathologists, Medical Scientists and Technologist with technical skills that can provide data about causes of death, similar to that obtained through a complete diagnostic autopsy.
