Haemophilia Youth of Africa workshop in Mauritius

Patients in Africa with haemophilia and other bleeding disorders between ages of 18-35 met in Mauritius to participate in the first workshop of its own kind on leadership and community engagement to empower them in supporting their national member organization in the continent.

A total of 14 participants from English speaking countries were invited for a two-day workshop.

The chairman of Kenya Haemophilia Association [KHA] Dr Kibet  P Shikuku from the Department of Human Pathology was invited as a chief guest and as a trainer on community engagement due to his vast experience in supporting and developing community programs.

He has an award from the same from the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation [NNHF]. The workshop was supported by the World Federation of Haemophilia [WFH] in collaboration with Haemophilia Association of Mauritius [HAM].

Kenyan participants included the current president of HYA Mr. Carlos Maube and Charles Njogu [KHA] youth leader.

Other countries represented included; Ghana,Ethiopia,Mauritius, South Africa, Lesotho and Nambia.
