Improving the health sector by Dr Wanyama’s efforts

Kakamega Deputy Governor H.E Hon Ayub Savula on Friday received a highly automated self-draining US Technology bed from  Dr. Frank Wanyama, a UON staff and representative from a US Manufacturing Firm called Easy Drain Products LLC. The special bed is critical in units such as the ICU, surgical ward, renal units, etc 

Hon. Savula said the new bed technology will be a game changer in management of patients at the Kakamega County General and Referral Hospital. 

Demise of Babeto Nzuki -MSc Cytology student

Babeto Nzuki was at the time of his demise, a first year MSc Cytology student in the Department of Pathology. He met his untimely death through a tragic road accident on Sunday, 20th August 2023. He will be buried at his home in Ikutha, Kitui on Saturday, 2nd September 2023 from 6am.

May his soul Rest In Peace.

Public Lecture on Validation of the serum N-glycome based biomarker for ovarian cancer via a multi-center study in Kenya and Germany

The public lecture by Prof. Véronique Blanchard  on the Validation of the serum N-glycome based biomarker for ovarian cancer via a multi-center study in Kenya and Germany was held on Thursday 3rd August 2023 at the Faculty of Health Sciences, UoN, KNH campus, Lecture Theatre 3 from 11:00 a.m.

Dr Okemwa presents at the SNOSSA Conference 2023

The 5th Society of Neuro-Oncology of Sub-Saharan Africa meeting (SNOSSA) was held on the 20th to 22nd July 2023 at the Radisson Blue Upper Hill Hotel. The conference brought together a diverse group of delegates from all across Africa, the Americas, Europe and beyond. It included half day workshop in the different subspecialties of neuro-oncology, developments and research presentations.

Invitation to Public Lecture by Prof. Véronique Blanchard

Prof. Véronique Blanchard from Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany will be giving a public lecture on the Omics discipline “Validation of the serum N-glycome based biomarker for ovarian cancer via a multi-center study in Kenya and Germany” on Thursday 3rd August 2023 at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Lecture Theatre 3 from 11:00 a.m. Other than physical attendance, there's also an option for virtual attendance.

Dr Wanyama leads R4A delegation in Kakamega County

H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa hosted a delegation from Rainbow For Africa UK (R4A-UK), led by Chairperson Dr. Francis Wanyama on 2nd July 2023

R4A-UK is an international organization that promotes health and social interventions in communities in deprived settings. 

The county government of Kakamega will partner with the organisation together with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology for their first project dubbed, Project ECHO. 

Dr Wanyama leads the Rainbow Africa delegation

On 16th June 2023, Kakamega County Deputy Governor H.E Hon. Ayub Savula Friday morning, on behalf of H.E  FCPA Fernandes Barasa, chaired a meeting between Rainbow Africa - UK and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) at the County headquarters, Kakamega.

Some of the deliberations during the meeting were implementation of Africa - UK projects and the Kenya - United Kingdom Health (KUKHA) projects in Kakamega County. The County Government of Kakamega will implement the project in collaboration with MMUST.
