Kenya Haemophilia Association [KHA] in collaboration with Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation [NNHF] visited Voi to open the first joint clinic for haemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
KHA has been undertaking serious infrastructural developments towards enhancing care for patients with haemophila and other bleeding disorders.
This year in January 2020, the KHA was privileged in collaboration with NNHF to open this first kind of treatment center at Voi.
The team also participated in joint strategic planning meetings with the Sickle Cell Federation of Kenya while jointly opening clinic in the presence of First Ladies from 9 counties. They were led by the First Lady of Taita Taveta County Mrs. Samboja amongst others.
As a university, this program is heavily supported by the Department of Human Pathology, Haematology and Transfusion Thematic Unit through Dr. Kibet Shikuku.
Through his leadership, the program was rated the best winner of the year 2019 by the WHF and also received an award as the best community leader out of 63 countries who participated in the award process.
