The 29th AKMLSO (Association of Kenya Medical Laboratory Scientific Officers)   conference was held at Royal Grand Swiss Hotel Kisumu from 15th -19th October 2024 with the theme being “Guardians of Quality and patient safety: Biomedical Laboratory Scientists.”

The guest speaker was Dr. Francis Wanyama speaking on The Genome: New Era in Cancer Biomarker Discovery. 
 

The conference went well with other speakers talking on various topics including;

The 71st UON Graduation ceremony occurred on Friday, September 20, 2024
at the Chancellor’s Court with the theme being “Transforming Society with Adaptive and Innovative Graduates”. 

Among the graduates, was our own, Dr Josephine Rioki receiving her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Cytology. Congratulations Dr. Rioki!

Also graduating from the Department was Ms.Peris Stella and Ms. Norrine Mutheu with Msc in Clinical Cytology.

On 7th October 2024, the Department Chairman, Dr Peter Maturi and Dr Carol Njeru welcomed five Botswana postgraduate students from University of Botswana for their 2 year program in Anatomic  and Clinical Pathology.
