Dr. Josephine Rioki was a member of Good Clinical Practice working group based on ISO /IEC 17065 whose mandate was to draft and ratify the criteria document for use by KENAS. Her contribution was in the following areas:

Molecular Cancer Research through Retinoblastoma

A collaboration between Department of Human Pathology, Department of Ophthalmology and Velux Stiftung has made it possible to have a Retinoblastoma research project spearheaded by Dr Lucy Njambi, Co Principle Investigator with Dr Helen Dimaras from University of Toronto, Dr Wairimu Waweru and Ms. Beatrice Omweri as the project research assistant.

Dr Wanyama leads collaboration in maternal health in Vihiga County

The County Government of Vihiga together with the Rainbow 4 Africa UK had a colourful MoU signing ceremony at the County headquarters in Western Kenya on 28th April 2024. Present were the Governor for Vihiga, H.E Dr. Wilber Otichilo, his Deputy and other Government officials.

Professional development in Health Sciences

On Friday, March 1, 2024, Dr. Francis Wanyama have a lecture at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Chuka University. It was organized by the Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences department as a public lecture and career talk. The students were treated to an engaging discourse on career prospects and professional development in the field. Roundtable Talks on Global health research

The Chairpersons from the Departments of Human Pathology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental and Dr. Francis Wanyama had a roundtable discussion with Prof. Dr. Till Bärnighausen from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. The discussions were based on global health research and collaborations that will change the world.

The 14 winners of this year's Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) grant were honoured at an event held at the Radisson Blue Hotel on 23rd February 2024. Examination Period in the Department

The undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department have been undertaking their examinations in the department. This was scheduled with the MLST students starting their examination on 12th February 2024 to the Postgraduate students who will start on 26th February 2024.

Lecture on developments in diagnosis of Lymphoma

On Wednesday, 14th February 2024, the brilliant Prof Lorenzo Leoncini from Department of Medical Biotechnology, University of Siena gave an informative lecture on Lymphoma with comparison between the two classified proposals.

Prof Lorenzo was introduced by the Department Chairman, Dr. Peter Maturi and the session was moderated by Prof. Joshua Nyagol.

FHS Inaugural Cultural Week

The Faculty of Health Science (FHS) invited staff and students to the Inaugural Cultural Week and Prom Event which was scheduled from 12th to 17th February 2024. The aim of the event was to celebrate and appreciate the diverse cultures within our community through creative expressions of art as well as cultural awareness.
